Lovers Docked For Breaking Landlady’s Hand

Two lovers, Christian Onuoha and Hope Ezenwa, 27 have been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly injuring their landlady.

Christian, a Medical Engineering graduate of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos and his heartthrob, Hope, who reside at 46, Ilupeju road, Ilupeju, Lagos, were alleged to have used an iron rod to break the right hand of Quadrat Yusuf, their landlady.

The middle-aged woman has been referred to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi where doctors are trying to treat her hand.

The duo were later charged with assault before a magistrate’s court in Lagos.

Spectrum News gathered that the relationship between the victim and the suspects went sour when Hope, who rented an apartment from the landlady, brought in her lover, Christian, to live with her.

Spectrum news gathered that the decision of Hope to bring her fiance to live with her did not go down well with the landlady who asked them to pack out, though the rent was yet to expire.

On the day of the incident, it was gathered that the landlady was cooking with a charcoal stove beside the suspect’s window and the smoke was disturbing them. When they wanted to stop her, a fight ensued during which the woman’s hand was said to have been broken by the suspects. But the suspects claimed that she fell from the chair during the fight and broke her hand.

When the charge was read to the defendants in the court, they pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with one responsible surety each in like sum.

The matter was adjourned till 2 November, 2009. The offence they allegedly committed was contrary to section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap 17, Vol. 2 Laws of Laws State of Nigeria, 2005.
